What to Get Dad This Father's Day (That He'll Actually Love)
by Tessa Judd
Father's Day in New Zealand falls on the 1st of September (the first Sunday of September each year) which means spring is just arriving, the days are getting longer, and there’s a real sense of celebration in the air. It’s the perfect moment to do something a little unexpected for the dad (or father figure) in your life.
I know flowers aren’t the first thing that comes to mind for Father’s Day. But please, hear me out.
Flowers aren’t just for mums.
Some of the most striking arrangements I put together are ones that feel bold, architectural, and a little wild, think proteas, tropical stems, sculptural foliage, and deep-toned blooms. These aren’t delicate posies; they’re statement pieces that look incredible in a home or office... plus they last longer than they average, bonus!
What works well for Father’s Day
- A statement arrangement - something with texture and drama. Proteas, leucadendron, orchids and banksia are all locally grown and have a real presence.
- A gift box - pair a small arrangement with something he’ll actually use. Our gift boxes are put together with care and can be customised for the occasion - think chocolate, cookies, coffee, cupcakes and lush soaps
- A potted plant - if he’s more of a “set and forget” kind of person, a beautiful potted plant is a gift that keeps going. No vase required.
